Programme Leadership

Special Projects

42 Consulting’s (42’s) programme leadership team specialises in delivering a full range of services to clients who are planning or undertaking major transformations, delivering portfolios of projects or one-off mega investment programmes.  We are a team of high calibre specialists, each of whom brings deep expertise in specific disciplines and industry sectors to enable major transformational change.  Unlike some of the large consulting houses, we believe in providing our clients with well-seasoned specialists, not graduates and young consultants that are still learning on the job.

We have developed a range of capabilities and offerings that enable us to deliver successful outcomes for our clients.  We work with clients across all industry sectors to translate strategy into programmes of work, to assure their delivery and to embed the programme, projects and Project Management Office (PMO) capability required to support the challenges of large-scale programmes.

Why programme leadership?
Whilst the term programme leader and programme manager is used interchangeably, there is a clear distinction between the two.  Our school of thought is that a programme needs both programme leadership and programme management to achieve a successful outcome.  Programme managers have many valuable traits.  They communicate well, they understand the process and they care about people.  They are good at setting goals, team building and all the other things we associate with a leader.  What a good programme manager may not excel at, is dealing with the unknown and leading people to a future vision.
A programme leader is well suited to moving forward, however, he or she is not well suited to manage the mundane.  Leadership is necessary to initiate change, innovate and create new products, systems and services.  Leadership also involves motivating people to become change agents, risk-takers and innovators.

Standards/Methodologies applied

We apply the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) framework combined with PRojects IN Controlled Environments (PRINCE) 2 principles.
PMBOK is an inclusive term that describes the sum of knowledge within the profession of project management.
